QUETZALCOATL, AZTEC

The legendary animal from the Aztecs: the serpent with feathers. I found that many figures have humans inside the animal’s mouth. I combine this Quetzalcoatl god figure with the detail of the Aztec warrior’s hat. The Aztec headpiece shows the colour and the artistic style of Aztecs. Quetzalcoatl appears from the pyramid where the Aztec people sacrifice people to the god. This shows death and life from the bottom to the top. The cocoa pods symbolise the gift from the god, which is life.
